During the current Coronavirus Lockdown in Scotland all training sessions are suspended.
Once we are allowed to restart, we will operate sessions by pre-booking and for EFC members only.
Training Sessions within Covid Guidelines
During November and December 2020, while Edinburgh was in Level 3 of the Scottish 5-tier Protection Level Framework, we were able to run sessions for U18 fencers, while adults were not allowed to take part in indoors sports activities.
Once we move out of lockdown and hopefully back into Level 3, and once Edinburgh Leisure resumes their community lets for sports facilities, we aim to offer these sessions again, including
- an Open Training Session on Tuesdays, 7.15pm to 8.45pm
Coaches, Covid Officer and Volunteers will set-up pistes for bubbles of up to eight fencers per weapon, foil, épée or sabre, for exerienced fencers to enjoy a night of sparring. While classic 1:1 coaching is not allowed for coaches over 18 until we reach the Covid Level 0, coaches are still allowed to coach from the side.
- a Cadet Foil and Sabre Fencing Class on Wednesdays, 6.15pm to 7.45pm
Coaches will run an adapted training session including warm-up, footwork, technical fencing training, and some time for sparring.
Booking will be essential for all sessions.
Training in Normal Times
In normal, non-pandemic times, the club is open for fencers on three evenings per week, offering
- Open Training Sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm to 9.30pm for all fencers over the age of 10 and with their own equipment.
- Cadet Foil and Sabre Sessions on Wednesdays from 6pm to 8pm and Thursdays from 7pm to 8.30pm.
